What to Expect Before and During Pet Surgery

Before your pet has surgery, our veterinarians will order a series of tests to confirm that your pet is healthy enough for the procedure. Along with the exam, we perform lab work and process it in our office, which can help determine the methods we use for the operation. During the surgery, your cat or dog will be fully monitored by our team. We closely watch any pets that may be under anesthesia and those on IV fluids in case adjustments need to be made to prevent potential problems from arising.

Post-Operative Care and Advice

After the surgical procedure, our vets will create a pain management plan for your pet if necessary. These are usually needed for more complex surgeries than routine procedures like spaying or neutering. You’ll also receive after-care instructions to follow upon arriving home. We may also recommend a follow-up visit to see how your pet is healing and to answer any questions you may have.
